I rented a car from Europacar for driving in narrow spaces on city streets in Belgium. Europcar however provided me with an absolutely huge car that is not a city car but rather the equivalent of a giant SUV for the highway. The outsized width of this vehicle (which was a Peugeot Rifter) compared with the vehicle pictured in the rental (which is a Fiat 500 as you'll see from the attached document) was the entire reason for the accident in a narrow city street. A Peugeot Rifter is roughly 15-20cm wider than a Fiat 500. Surely a consumer has the right not to face an abusive contract and, to this end, any right by the company to provide a replacement car should mean the company provides a car of the same or similar dimensions to prevent a poor and even dangerous rental experience. Instead — in an absolutely outrageous remark — the most recent response from Europcar was to blame me "because you were not able to maneuver the provided vehicle," in other words to blame me for not able to drive properly. In my case the car provided was absolutely enormous and nothing like the car in the picture and as a result of the accident in a narrow street I have been left with a bill for 1068,76 euros which I would like waived. I also wish for a formal, written apology from Europcar for blaming me for not being able to drive properly.
